Breeders

Every cultivar is linked to a breeder (the seed bank or individual who created it). BudMinder maintains a centralized breeder directory to ensure consistent naming across your library.

Adding breeders

You rarely need to add breeders manually:

• Cultivars imported from StrainCompass automatically populate their breeder.
• When entering a breeder manually, BudMinder suggests matching names as you type. Continue typing to create a new breeder entry.

To create a breeder profile directly, go to Settings → Grow setup → Breeders and click Add Breeder.

Renaming and deleting

Navigate to Settings → Grow setup → Breeders to view your breeder directory along with the number of linked cultivars for each. Click any entry to rename or remove it.

To protect data integrity, breeders linked to active strains in your library cannot be deleted. Rename the breeder instead, or reassign those strains to another breeder before deleting.

Tip: Click any breeder name on a strain profile to view all cultivars from that breeder in your collection.

Breeder suggestions

Auto-complete suggestions are powered by a built-in catalog of over a thousand breeders. Under Settings → Integrations → Breeder Suggestions, BudMinder can automatically synchronize with StrainCompass's public directory monthly. Toggle Refresh the list automatically once a month or click Refresh now to update suggestions immediately.
