Adding a plant
Every plant starts from a cultivar in your Strains library. The strain automatically imports its breeder, flowering window and genetic background, while keeping your seed vault counts accurate. If a cultivar is not in your library yet, add it there first. See Adding a strain.
Two ways to start
- On the Plants page, click Add plant.
- In the Seed Vault on the Strains page, click Start a grow next to any strain. The strain and a default plant name are prefilled, and Decrease seed count by 1 is checked automatically.
The Add Plant form
- Plant Name: enter a custom name or identifier, for example Blue Dream #2.
- Zone: the tent or room where the plant grows. Select Add New Zone to create a new location.
- Strain: start typing to search and select from your strain library.
- Status: the current growth stage, such as Seedling for a plant started earlier.
- Start Date: the date growth began. Defaults to today and cannot be set to a future date.
- Is Clone: check this box for clones or cuttings, then select its Parent Plant from existing plants of the same strain.
- Decrease seed count by 1: deducts one seed from this strain in your Seed Vault.
Click Add Plant to save and open the new plant's profile.
When the strain isn't there yet
Click Strains in the notice at the top of the form. BudMinder preserves your current form inputs. Once you save the new strain, click Back to Add Plant to return with the new strain selected and your previous entries intact.
Editing a plant
Click the pencil icon on the plant's page, or in its row on the Plants page. You can update its name, tent, strain, start date, description and clone status. After harvest, this is also where you record the final Harvest Weight in grams. Link sensors pairs environmental monitors directly to this plant.
Click Save Changes when you are done.
